Welcome to the inaugural edition of “Trail Mix with Randy,” a weekly e-newsletter I am kicking off this week to give you the inside scoop on my campaign against incumbent Congressman and Obama rubberstamp, Tim Bishop.
My goal is to make each week’s edition fun, informative and focused on contrasting my positive, pro-growth platform with Congressman Bishop’s dismal record of failure in Washington.
Since announcing my decision to seek a rematch with Congressman Bishop last May, I have worked hard to unite Republicans and Conservatives behind my candidacy. The results have been tremendous.
I am honored to have received the endorsements of former Governor George Pataki, Republican State Chairman Edward Cox, Conservative State Chairman Mike Long, Republican Suffolk County Chairman John Jay LaValle and Conservative Suffolk County Chairman Ed Walsh. I have also secured backing from local GOP Chairs like Brookhaven’s Jesse Garcia, Smithtown’s Bill Ellis and others, as well as numerous Tea Party/9-12 organizations on Long Island.
We are united – and that’s bad news for Tim Bishop!
Top 10 Races
Some of you may have seen this before, but Washington, DC-based Politico rated my rematch with Congressman Bishop as one of the Top 10 Bellwether races in the entire country. The eyes of the nation will be on Suffolk County. Let’s show them we can deliver.
Young Guns Class of 2012
To live up to the national attention that our race is getting, I have been working hard to raise money and put together a first-rate campaign. Those efforts have been recognized by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) who named me one of the first candidates accepted into their Young Guns Class of 2012. Being accepted to the Young Guns program means Republicans across the country are committed to this race and my candidacy, and will be a partner with us in taking the fight to Tim Bishop.
The Growing Altschuler Family
On a personal note, my wife Cheryl and I were blessed late last year with the birth of our daughter Sasha at St. Charles hospital in Port Jefferson. She joins our 4-year old son, Noah, who many of you met on the campaign trail in 2010. Cheryl and I are proud to raise our family on Long Island, and as your next Congressman I will do everything in my power to make our community an even better place to live, work, raise a family, start a business and retire.
